Central Park Dartford – How Well Do You Know it?

Central Park Dartford, as the name suggests, is an open space located right in the middle of Dartford, Kent.

The park provides the area with a host of facilities for sports and outdoor fitness and also comes with a playground with a waterplay area for children.

Split by River Darent which flows through the park, the southern end of the site features a number of sports pitches bordered by tree-lined paths, while at the very far south you’ll find Central Park Arena, home of the Dartford Harriers Athletics Club.

The wide open lawns of the park are often used for concerts during the summer. At the northern end meanwhile, adjacent to the library and war memorial, the formal gardens include both summer and winter bedding, utilising both herbaceous plants and shrubs.

The formal gardens are complimented by a rose garden and pergola, which was installed in 2002 and is quite spectacular when in full bloom.

The park is extremely popular with local children and visitors alike, its open space has well surfaced routes suitable for visitors with pushchairs and/or wheelchairs, and has no width restricting features, such as stiles.

Central Park hosts numerous events, particularly in summer, including the popular Dartford Festival in July. There is a very popular skate park in the middle of the park, Also the Ecology Island area in the middle of the park. So, Ecology Island offers drop in free art workshops in the summer, children need to be accompanied by an adult, and there is no need to book, just drop in.

The Car Park is Located Nearby

In addition, there are public conveniences and a small car park near the Cranford Road entrance at the southern end of the park (next to Fairfield Pool), and conveniences just outside the park in Market Street.

Park Opening hours:

Summer: 8am til half an hour before before sunset or 9:30pm. Winter: 8am to 4.30pm
